To me, a healthy lifestyle means keeping it real. It’s all about finding the balance between meals and fitness. I’ve always enjoyed working out and I never believed in diets. The best way to keep a healthy body and mind is to not worry about eating. Another part of leaving a healthy life is to educate ourselves on how to eat, to learn how to read the labels on the food we buy and how to get the most of our meals to keep full without having to snack before the next meal. Another thing I do is to know what my weaknesses are with food. For example, I love desserts such as cake, flan, and soufflé to mention a few. Carbs, and spicy snacks also do it for me.
Since I know what my weaknesses are, it’s easier for me to enjoy them without overdoing them. I personally do not miss food at all because I do not restrict myself from any. I believe the problem I see with diets is that people restrict themselves from eating certain foods, because they feel that by not eating certain items it will help them to achieve their weight loss goal. Unfortunately they fail in their journey because they miss what they like to eat. I believe in balancing my meals and learning how to eat slowly and not rush to teach my body to get full and slowly learn to not feel guilty when enjoy a piece of cake.
It is important to be true to myself. I am a firm believer that by not restricting my body from the things I enjoy to eat and allowing room for deserts actually helps me stay on track. I’ve learned that it’s ok to eat what I enjoy and reward myself for working hard. Also to eat only until I am satisfied, not in excess. It has taken time to learn self-love but once I found it’s been beautiful, because it has given me power and control over who I am and that gives me energy to keep going on my journey to stay healthy and fit. It is always important to remember that we are all different and everybody is beautiful in their own way. It is important to help each other rather than turn our backs on those that need help, because if we’ve been there, why not do some good and pay it forward..
