Part One
Diets have been part of the health and fitness lifestyle for generations. Diets come in different ways, from keto, lemonade diets, the military diet to mention some. Nowadays we see a lot more diets than fitness and health knowledge. Can people learned that to achieve a fit life diets are a not necessary. Diets might help trim your waist, you might feel healthy for a moment, the problem comes if/when you stop dieting. Here it’s how it usually goes; your body will have a re-bounce, due to your dietary restrictions causing a significant effect physical or even mental problems.
I am also firmly believer that in order for something to work for us in life, regardless of our goals; the first step is to become aware of how? why? and what? our weakness and strengths are. Believe me the answer will take longer, because we simply do not know the answer right away. The next step is to make a plan, here comes the harder part sticking to the plan, Why?. We need to take into consideration that we are living in a world that is constantly in a rush; with work, parenting, school, or anything else life might trow our way.
Similarly taking into consideration our bodies and how to find the balance to not fall ill, not just physically also mentally. By learning our habits we can find solutions on how to implement a strategy that works for us. As I mention that is the hardest part of the process along with wanting fast results. Personally I suck at wanting fast results, we will all be happy if it was that way. As a personal note; here is a little inspiration I tell my kids. “Nothing in life comes easy we always have to be patient, work hard and always look forward never back”.
Here are other issues that I have seeing from dieting: unwanted body fats, bloating, and feeling like a failure. Because you feel like nothing works for you. However here is where the problem begins, diets do not work for everyone, because everybody’s metabolism is different. By doing the same diet as your friend, does not mean that it will bring the same results. What works for me might not work for you and vice-versa. The best way to approach health, wellness, and a fit life, is to learn about your weakness and strengths. Besides what you might think, we can all achieve a fit body, but there are two things to take into consideration; our body type and eating habits.
Furthermore there should not be dieting of any type (unless is doctor recommended) restricting our body will cause more cravings. For example think about it this way; when we were young our parents determine the amount of candy we could have. Do you remember craving it more because we felt restricted by our parents of that delicious sweet treat. It’s the same way with food, our bodies crave the food that keep us unhealthy,. For me is desserts or salty crunchy chips with hot sauce and lime 🙂
There are ways to learn how to control our selves and not over eat things we consider important or a must have for us, in any meal or after a meal. The next thing is to look at food as nutrients for our bodies and not as a reward. Food is not love either for when we are sad or going through a hard time. We need to learn what triggers us to eat those things and we need to learn to not feel guilty or punish ourselves if we have a little more dessert one day than another. Life is all about balancing it and learning how and what works for us.
There are ways to still be a food lover and stay fit. I had learned on my own, by making mistakes. That there are no good or bad ways to start something as long as it works for us by making our lives better. We need to let go of the fear of wanting to fit in or look at certain way and love our selves more. My advice is: start with small changes such take a thirty minute walk, if you really like to eat bread for breakfast try not to eat again during lunch or dinner switch the menu and add variations, salad instead of fries one day and the next eat the fries with your meal.
You see what I am saying here, never restrict unless directed by a medical professional. Make healthy and smarter choices wether eating out or cooking at home. If going out ( do not feel you can’t enjoy a drink or food) for example pick a drink one day that does not have lots of calories such vodka soda with lime or unsweetened tea with lemon, and the next day for lunch have a coke with your meal. Is all about balance and consistency, think about this as the first day of your job you didn’t know how to start but by the second week you were more familiar with the office you were working at.
I will be posting a way to start if you are having any trouble keeping a balance healthy life or if you do not know how to keep going. It will just be to give you an idea and guidance on how to achieve your goals without dieting….
